well i cant be arsed to check the essay that is the Eula, but this probably breaks it.
In which case Anet will "hopefully" catch them at some point and delete all their accounts.
That would be funny.

Well, you cannot do arranged ranked matches anymore, so you could hardly cheat to get a better guild rank by arranging matches with a guild your other acounts are joined to to farm guild rank. It does, however, mean someone could be in 2 of the top 10 guilds for the World Championship.

afaik, they're called smurfs. Most of the people I know that use this are just faction farming anyway. Why waste time on getting two guilds high on the ladder?

It is against the rules though because that spot on the ladder could have been for someone else deserving instead of a single guild having 2+ places in the ladder.

I don't recall saying anything about having two accounts being against the eula tos or rules.

Hopping guilds might be unfair, if it was the same account I guess.
I don't count it as a big enough deal to worry about. It ruins any faction gain if you hop guilds so really just the championship is affected and then not overly.
We have two guilds but our 2nd guild has never played a ranked match. We just split up to test tactics. I don't think anything is wrong with that. I wish they'd let you do it with all the maps without having to have separate accounts for each guild hall.

There was a limit to how many times you can ranked play a guild. They also removed the ability to ranked challenge to prevent this. He is obviously some PvE player who has never GvGed before.

I like smurfed guilds. They generally have nice rank, and buckle under pressure when fighting someone decent. Easy wins.

Typically smurf guilds are a good guild who made a second account. Reasons for this are:
-Trying out a new build and not wanting to hurt rating
-Trying out new players or training new members
-Bored of waiting for a worthy opponent
So actual smurf guilds are going to be quite hard to defeat.

smurfing can also still be used to tank your opponants rating if your smurfs at say rank 1500 and your real guilds at say 100 and you fight one of your competitors thats say 150 they will lose more rating to your smurf than to your main if you beat them and if they win they will gain less than they would if they were fighting your main
so you could if you were good get your rank up to round 1k then fight opponants that are close to your main guild and if you win you can drop them by 100 or more ranks then tank your rank again and continue the process thereby preventing people from catching up to your main guilds rank
its kinda cheap

They usually hop guilds, not have 2 accounts. 2 accounts was back when you could do a rated challenge.
The reason that you have less faction for like 2 weeks when you join a guild is cus of guild hopping -> smurf guilds.
Oh yeah, most of the top guild people don't give a crap about faction, anet.
Finally, whoever said that smurf guilds are easy wins...is an idiot. I'd like to see you play Union Team =P

Smurf guilds really hurt.
Example:
- Guild A is rank 10
- Guild B is rank 5
- Guild C is Guild B's new smurf guild, ranked 100
If Guild A meets Guild B, Guild A is "expected" to loose (and will loose little rank when it does) and, if it wins, the rank gain will be good.
If, however, Guild A meets Guild C, it's the other way around: "expected" to win, so gaining little rank for it, and if it looses, looses much rank.
Because guys from Guild B are actually playing Guild C, Guild A will likely loose and have its rank badly damaged. If they win (which is hard), they win little rank.
